American Journalist covering FIFA World in Qatar dies

Just In: America’s one of most prominent sports journalists, Grant Wahl, died in Qatar after collapsing while reporting the FIFA World Cup. The 49-year-old’s sudden death spread shock and sorrow across the sports community.

According to Qatar’s World Cup administration, Wahl “Fell Ill” in the press area, where he was given his First Medical Treatment on-site. He was then moved to Hamad General Hospital, where he was declared dead, but the circumstances of his death are still not revealed.

“He was treated in the stadium for about 20-25 minutes before transferred to the hospital. This was towards the end of extra time in the match. Suddenly, colleagues up to my left started shouting for medical assistance. Of course, someone had collapsed. Because the chairs are freestanding, people were able to move the chairs, so it’s possible to create a little bit of space around him, said Radnedge, a columnist at World Soccer Magazine.”

US Soccer also praised the Wahl’s love and passion, saying, “The entire US Soccer family is saddened to learn that we have lost Grant Wahl. He made soccer his life’s work, and we are shocked that he and his brilliant writing will no longer be with us.”
