Just In: With another Jewel in its already adorned Crown, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set another world record, entering the Guinness Book of Records for recording the highest attendance during a T20 Match. The BCCI has confirmed the news while sharing it as an achievement on various social media platforms.
The record for hosting the largest crowd in a T20 game was achieved during the Tata IPL 2022 Final between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium on 29th May 2022. The recently constructed stadium successfully welcomed 101,566 people for the title clash between RR and GT.
The news is shared by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah through his official Twitter handler, saying “Extremely joyful and honored to receive the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a T20 Match when 101,566 people watched the thrilling @ IPL Final @ GCAMotera’s magnificent Narendra Modi Stadium on 29 May 2022. A big applaud to our fans for making this achievable!”

It is important to note that the Narendra Modi Stadium was reopened in February 2021 following extensive repairs, with a capacity increase to 132,000 spectators at once. Another unique feature of this venue is the installation of LED lights on the roof in place of floodlights.
