Just In: Well! it looks like Indian Cricket has finally found a perfect opening batter just before the start of two mega cricketing tournaments, ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023, and his name is worth remembering for future references, “Shubman Gill.”
Men in Blue discovered this jewel during the First One-day International Match against New Zealand in Hyderabad. Against all Odds, the test and try Shubaman Gill was given the responsibility to open the innings, which he did better than anyone else.
Coming to the field, Gill performed for what he has awaited for years, scoring a career-best 208 on just 149 deliveries. Of course, he showcased composed innings and tailored the innings perfectly before getting out in the last over.
While anchoring the historical innings, Shubman played all around the ground, hitting 19 boundaries and nine sixes. During his marathon-styled cricketing display, none of the opposition bowlers got relief from his bat.
It is pertinent to mention that Gill’s double ton has not just pushed him on the list of Youngest Cricketer Scoring Two-Hundred Runs in a One-Day International but also helped his team win the first ODI by a 12-runs margin.
Unfortunately, the remaining Indian Side has remained subject to Lean Performances against New Zealand. Gill’s opening partner and skipper, Rohit Sharma, fell cheaply after scoring 34 of 38 balls, while Kohli once again struggled to perform with the bat, targeted by Santner on just eight runs.
In short, other than Gill, no Indian batter has played acknowledgeable innings though the team managed to seize victory by twelve runs. Of course, Shubman Gill was awarded the Man of the Match Award.
After the match, various Social Media platforms flooded with posts from Cricket Lovers and Experts, all heaping praise on Shubman Gill for his incredible knock, while a few regarded him as a Special Player for Indian Team.
