Just In: According to the official statement by Arkansas Head Coach, the team’s junior guard Davonte Davis has stepped away from the basketball team. However, the sources claim that the absence of a young star is not permanent.
“Davonte Davis is taking some time away from Basketball; however, he has our full support during this time,” says the Musselman statement on Monday Night.
It is pertinent to mention that Davis has participated straight in the first six competitions of the current season from the Razorbacks and displayed splendid performances with an average of 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
Davis has joined Eric Musselman’s first recruiting class at Arkansas, a four-man class wrapping all in-state athletes. The Jacksonville native was a four-star candidate in the 2020 class, ranking 129th among states level players. Moreover, Davis also made a few appearances during his freshman season before joining the Razorback rotation for the remaining games.
Notably, Davis made headlines for his participation in the NCAA Tournament as a freshman, which assisted him in leading Arkansas to its first Elite Eight appearance in 26 years. He played in four tournament games, averaging 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
