Just In: France’s star defender Lucas Hernandez will miss the remainder of his team’s FIFA World Cup campaign after suffering a knee injury against Australia in the tournament’s opening game. Undoubtedly, his absence would impact the performance of defending champions.

Various athletes of the defending champions have already been ruled out of the Qatar Tournament, with the Bayern Munich defender as the latest entry who sustained a severe knee injury during the match in which they defeated Socceroo by 4-0.

Of course, it’s a huge blow to Coach Didier Deschamps, who already lost Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, who was injured during a practice session on Saturday and dropped off the squad. The other missings of the 2018 Champions are Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, and Presnel Kimpembe.

“Honestly, the entire situation is turning into a big matter, but we will continue moving forward as it makes us stronger,” said France captain Hugo Lloris.

Meanwhile, Deschamps now has 24 players, and he needs to juggle wisely to compete in the high-profile tournament. However, the fans are feared as Deschamps indicated that he’s going to do some tests.
