Just In: Days after winning the UFC Middleweight Belt from Israel Adesanya, Pereira has received a challenge from rising sensation Chimaev for another Championship Match. Reportedly, Khamzat Chimaev will fight Alex Pereira in UFC 282 on December 10.
Pereira is in excellent kickboxing shape right now, having won three championship bouts in a row, including the 185lb Belt against Israel Adesanya, where he stopped the Nigerian fellow in the Final Round of UFC 281.
The Middleweight Champion is now posing another challenge by Chimaev, who tweeted, “December 10. Let’s go, I already agreed. Now it’s your turn.” Even though Pereira hasn’t responded yet, he will likely pick such a fight at three-week notice.
It is pertinent to mention that UFC has already revealed the UFC 282 Main Event on December 10, which is scheduled to feature a rematch between Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka for the Light-Heavyweight Championship Title.
Chimaev wanted to compete at welterweight but was unable to reach the 171-pound weight limit for his final scheduled matchup against Nate Diaz at UFC 279 due to illness. Instead, Kevin Holland faced the Swede in the co-main event, knocking out his rival within three minutes.
