Just In: After winning the World Championship and leaving Formula 1 six years ago, Rosberg has been making headlines due to his upcoming return as Team Boss. The former champion, nevertheless, clarifies everything by stating that he has no ambitions to rejoin Formula 1.
Notably, Nico is not the first F1 driver to walk off the career without being too young as his long-time rival and team-mate Lewis Hamilton also made a similar decision of earlier retirement back in 2016, while he was just 31 years old.
However, Rosberg evaluates his decision by citing that he wants to spend more time with his family, which is the same justification his fellow German Sebastian Vettel offered for his retirement at the end of the 2022 campaign.
Sources claim that Rosberg started several businesses, including Extreme E Teams and Rosberg X Racing, which may be the main factor in the former champion’s decision to turn down the opportunity to become the team’s boss.
In response to the question, “Did he see himself controlling a team in another series?” asked by a Spanish newspaper, Rosberg replied, “Since Extreme E is succeeding so brilliantly, many people have questioned if I would ever want to manage a Formula 1 team. My response is unambiguously No..”
