Just In: A year has passed since Steven Gerrard left Aston Villa, and Rangers are again searching for a new manager. However, this time it doesn’t happen due to managerial reins; instead, it’s due to a string of poor performances in domestic and European Matches.
The replacement of Giovanni van Bronckhorst was inevitable as Rangers lost all six games in Champions’ League Group Stage, while they are nine points behind the Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. After overhauling the club’s overall performance, the Ibrox side has decided to sack their current coach.
Notably, Rangers have more than three weeks until their next official game against Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership and no European Football forward due to FIFA World Cup, so they have a lot of time to find a new manager.
Rangers have played quite impressive under Steven Gerrard, who joined the club in 2018 and led the club to oust Celtic from the race for Championship Title in season 2020-21; however, he soon moved to Aston Villa.
In the current scenario, Ibrox fans are considering the return of Gerrard as a safe option, as they think the former Englishman has a strong understanding of the team and gets along well with the present lineup. However, many supporters view this move as a step backward for the club.
