Just In: The number one positioned WBO super lightweight candidate Teofina “The Takeover” Lopez has expressed his wish on multiple scenarios that he wants to face the WBO Josh Taylor. However, before facing off Taylor, he has to square off against Sandon Martin (4-20, 13 KOS) on Dec 10 at Madison Square Garden.

Lopez made the headlines in the Boxing World in October 2020 after claiming victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko via a unanimous decision. Of course, Lopez showcased admirable skills in boxing while limiting Lomachenko by negating his hitting angles.

Lopez maintained his early-fight dominance in the fight, but Lomachenko was able to produce strong shots in the later rounds. However, the Takeover immediately bounced back during the championship rounds, winning the match and unifying the WBA, WBO, and IBF lightweight titles.

Notably, Lopez barely held onto the title of Unified Lightweight Champion for eleven months before losing by a split decision to George Kambosos Jr. After that, he took a break due to health issues and then decided to continue his boxing career at 140.

In 2022, Lopez debuted as a Super Lightweight and faced Pedro Campa. After earning the most scores through Jab Shots and the right hand over the top, Lopez knocked Campa down in the 7th round with some furry shots on the face.

After two months after his debutant victory, Lopez announced his second bout of Super Lightweight at 140 against Jose Pedraza. However, Pedraza withdrew from the fight due to illness, and now, Lopez will face a new opponent on Dec 10.
