Just In: The World Champions of all FIA-affiliated Championships gathered in Bologna for the FIA Prize Distribution Ceremony, where Max Verstappen was officially awarded the Drivers’ Championship trophy for the second time.

The Dutch driver advanced to the FIA Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship Trophy by taking first place in the Japanese Grand Prix in early October, defeating the teams of Ferraris and Charles Leclerc. However, he waited till Friday to receive the trophy in the Official Ceremony.

While reflecting on his thoughts on winning the most prestigious FIA title for the second time in his career, Verstappen said, “The emotions are high, but I think they should be anyway because your entire life you aim for one goal and that’s to become a world champion for me in Formula 1.”

“Perhaps, this year has been very different. I do think we were more aggressive and competitive this year and more enjoyable with how we displayed as a team. We won the drivers and the constructors – we had so many victories as a team,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the veteran F1 driver Lewis Hamilton has won the FIA Action of the Year award for his performance in a thrilling race at the F1 British Grand Prix. Notably, FIA had shortlisted candidates for various racing categories, and the winners were picked through fans’ votes.
